VIRUSES AND THE INFECTIONS THEY CAUSE: Viruses are very unique microbes compared to the rest of the microbes such as bacteria, protozoa and parasites.  The difference in microbes puts viruses on the farthest extreme in terms of structure, the diseases they cause, and even the drugs that can help eliminate some of them.  They are some of the most resistant infectious agents with various characteristics ranging from complex survivor capability to poorly explained genetical variations.  On this page, we are looking at some of the most common viral pathogens and the diseases they cause but before we continue, we have looked at bacteria before and now, let us look at some of the differences between a typical bacterial strain and a viral particle;
